The Bottom Trail is accessed from the Settlement Canyon main road via the Left Hand Fork Trail. To skip a long section of access road (to Camp Wapiti and beyond), take the Muddy Trail (branches to the right off the Left Hand Fork Trail prior to the point where the access road and the trail meet). However, the Muddy Trail is best accessed by continuing straight ahead briefly along the stream before turning right to go up the embankment. The Muddy Trail joins the Bottom Trail higher up the canyon.
