Need to Know

The Sturgis Fork Road up to the TH has been mechanically brushed out after 2017's wildfires, and is very passable now. The last section up to the TH is 4x4, though. It's a short section and you could just ride from the Sturgis Fork Road instead of driving all the way to the trailhead.

Description

The trail starts out mellow, but gets steep in sections as it was probably designed by motorcycle or horse. Given some TLC re-design in these areas, this could be a top notch ride. The trail takes you from the parking lot at the Sturgis TH, then up though meadows and old growth forest to the saddle where it meets the Boundary Trail #1207. Still, ride this thing, while you might have to push in sections going up, coming down is a hoot, and the scenery is worth it.
