Overview
With just a little bit of paved path at the beginning and end, this loop is a great option for those new to mountain biking, to take kids on, or for those just looking for a mellow day out on the bike!
Description
There is not a designated parking area for this ride. Park on the side of Kedron Blvd and head toward the entrance for the
Zion Bike Trail. This paved path is a nice warm up and leads you into the heart of the park. The rest of the trails are primarily packed dirt that twist and turn through the woods. Just before the bridge on the paved trail there is a junction on the left with
Outer West (Purple Loop). Follow
Outer West (Purple Loop) heading west around the outer perimeter of the park. There are a few alternate lines along this trail if you're looking for something a little extra.
Continue following the main Outer West Loop as it turns east and heads back toward the center of the park. At the main trail junction take a right onto
Inner Mile (Orange Loop) and shortly after stay left to follow the loop clockwise. There are a few optional skinny features on this trail if you're looking add a bit more to your ride or to test your mettle as you work on your handling skills. A little over halfway through this loop you'll come across the skills area. This may be a bit more then the average beginner is looking for, but if you're feeling adventurous give it a go.
The
Inner Mile (Orange Loop) continues heading east, eventually rejoining itself (stay left) and then ending at the main intersection by the bridge. If you're looking for more miles and trails, head to the east side of the park, otherwise, take a right to follow the
Zion Bike Trail back to the road and your car.
