Need to Know

This is not the old Cantrell. Good connector between Squirrel Gap Trail (#147) and South Mills River Trail (#133). It's punchy in spots going up, but doable. It's also a bit sendy coming down. If it's too smooth for you now, I bet a few seasons from now (2019), more rocks and roots will be poking out of the tread, giving it some boniness.

Description

This new, rerouted Cantrell can be either climbed or descended. it's pretty punchy in spots, and it'll be quite a workout if you choose to go up. If you choose to go down, you can pick up enough speed to get a bit sendy, but there aren't really any constructed jumps on it. If you do go down, be aware that others might be climbing it.

There are a handful of switchbacks, and be very aware of them when descending. A couple of them have a weird variable radius that's pretty sudden and if you are going too fast and aren't ready for it, it'll be more like a jump with a landing zone in some rhodos somewhere.

This trail was built with climbing in mind. Turns are excellent going up and there are slight downhills sections to give you a break. — 0h 36m
