Update

Climb steadily on this trail from Bradley Creek Trail before contouring down to Wolf Ford.

Brian Smith

Description

From where this trail leaves the Bradley Creek Trail, it follows an easy grade to the old Mullinax home place where there is a grassy opening and the remains of the house foundation. From here it becomes a side slope trail, continuing through upper hardwood forests.

The trail winds in and out of several gaps, such as Mullinax Gap, Laurel Gap, Horse Cove Gap and Squirrel Gap. The trail finally descends to Wolf Ford where it intersects with the South Mills River Trail (#133).

Some parts of this trail are open to horses, so watch for trail signs that state which uses are allowed. There are several trails which intersect this one, and many opportunities for longer rides.

This was the best trail in my 4 days of riding in Pisgah and Dupont. We did an out and back and had a blast. My opinion. Remember to be extra dilligent at the climb up out of the parking lot. You descend towards the river where there is a bit of a trail network you can turn the wrong way onto if you are not careful. DO NOT cross the river to start the ride! Jul 27, 2015

I agree with you. A truly excellent trail for XC riders who love singletrack. I combined it with Turkey Pen Gap Trail once and it royally sucked !!! Makes me wonder why TPG Trail has good a good rating. Nov 3, 2015
