This is a county road with very little traffic, mostly used by ATVs.

Leave the town of Encampment heading west. Turn left on Finley Hill Road. The road drops to the North Fork of the Encampment River. Now the climbing begins. At the next crest is a "Y"; taking a left drops down to the Encampment River Trail #470. Turn right and continue to climb.

While climbing for the next few miles, don't forget to occasionally look back for some big views of the North Platte River Valley and the Snowy Range. Next, enjoy a break from the climbing in a big meadow. Finally, continue to climb past some beaver dams and a couple seasonal cabins. Finish at Dead Horse Park, a popular spot for dispersed camping or use Road 550 to access additional trails and forest roads.
