Description
From Shobak Castle, this section heads north west across the plateau, building the anticipation of reaching the edge of the rim. The route has fantastic views as it contours along the mountains between Shobak and Petra. Most of the route is on 4x4 jeep track, nothing very technical and all rideable, with a few shorter steep sections.
A short section on road takes you along the Kings Highway and descends towards Little Petra on the Heisha Road (from the Heisha Road you can descend on
Al-Baydha Road straight to Little Petra, or from the Petra overlook, you can return off-road towards Little Petra). Continue on 4x4 track overlooking Little Petra and the town of Um Sayhoun, before reaching the overlook of Wadi Musa and the ancient city of Petra, with a clear view of Qasr Al-Bint (the Daughter's Palace) on the colonnaded street inside Petra.
