The Rim Trail extends a little further north than mapped, but this section between Slide Campground and Cloudcroft is closed TO mountain bikers.

Description

This is a beautiful trail that travels just over 30 miles from just south of Cloudcroft to Sacramento Road. It can be ridden in its entirety or broken up into easier segments using one of many access points. The northern section of trail can be quite busy, but you'll encounter fewer trail users the further south you travel.

The first-third of the trail is the most popular and makes a nice out-and-back as shown in the Rim Trail Ride form Slide Campground. From the trailhead it's a straightforwards pedal up to Karr Canyon Road. Continuing south much of this section is back away from the escarpment, but there is a section with some steep cross-slope. Undulating climbs will bring riders toward the high point on the plateau to the southeast of Alamo Peak.
