Description

The Mail Cabin Trail is a good option to connect to other trails in the area, or to better access the Mikesell Canyon Trail on the descent. It can be accessed from the parking at the Mike Harris Campground and pedaling up Highway 33 for a few miles, or park at the Mail Cabin trailhead for an out-and-back.

The trail takes you along the river bottom, up a newly constructed set of switchbacks, and then puts you up high looking into the Upper Palisades basin. The upper portion of the trail has a new trail cut that can be easily seen from the creek bottom.

Expect lots of wildflowers, wildlife, and scenery. The trail is popular with livestock and hiking, so be prepared for those conditions.
