The Tech Loop 1 and Tech Loop 2 trails are 5 miles (8 km) from the car park, so you'll have to commit to at least the Mountrussell Loop (Brown Loop) loop to access them. The Tech Loops have a different character and are a little more difficult than the others at Ballyhoura.

Tech Loop 2 is probably the easier of the two trails, but you can still carry plenty of speed through the bermed turns on this mostly downhill route. There are a couple of jumps along the way that will allow you to get some flying time, but nothing an intermediate rider should have any trouble with. The trail follows a doubletrack climb at the end to merge with the Garrane Loop (White Loop).

Tech Loop 2 also traverses a recently (circa 2015) logged section, so you'll be able to see what's coming ahead. The land is managed by the Coillte Estate which is a government owned company which manages much of the countries forests for commercial opportunities and recreational pursuits.
