Description

The trail consists of hard-packed dirt/sand that's very smooth. This trail is seldom used outside of the Farmville to High Bridge section, which is a popular tourist attraction.

In the middle, the trail traverses the Farmville downtown area that has a lot of shops and restaurants (another tourist attraction). The High Bridge Trail gets its name from the bridge on the Appomattox River. The bridge itself is 2,400 feet long and about 160 feet high at the tallest point.

Besides the 32 miles of easy riding, High Bridge Trail also offers well mapped out mountain biking trails going through 250 acres of woods the park owns as well as trails near the Camp Paradise parking lot in Rice, VA. Burnside Trail is a 3 mile black diamond trail built for smooth transitions and fast cornering. The Smyth Trail is a doubletrack that follows a creek. The Deering trail is a nine tenths a mile trail all downhill. All trails loop back to the start and are labeled and one direction.

My 7 year old daughter is having a blast on the Earley Trail. A great trail for beginners, but still challenges everyone with a little climb at the start.

There she goes! Notice the blue rectangle trail marker on the tree just behind and above my daughter. Follow these markers to stay on the Earley Trail.
