The surfaces are smooth and the terrain is not too steep. Keep in mind, this is a long ride so the very youngest kids will need plenty of breaks.
Overview
Fjellrunden is a mountain gem. Here you can really feel and experience the mountain, and it can be shared with everyone! The stretch Fageråsen - Grønskaret is handicap accessible. The trail begins at the top of the summer lift (you can purchase a pass at the base). Or it can be accessed by vehicle from two good starting points at Skihytta or Trysil Høyfjellssenter.
Description
Fjellrunden is a multi-use trail that goes around the Trysilfjellet mountain. The trail is around 8 miles / 13 kilometers. The whole trail is well marked with "Fjellrunden" and "134" at every intersection and at regular intervals..
The surface varies from easy dirt road to natural forest trails in shorter sections. From Trysil Høyfjellssenter via Grønskaret to Skihytta, you follow a gravel road with wide wooden "bridges" over the marshes. Parts of the trail is wheelchair-friendly, and there is an easily accessible parking lot in the cabin areas on both sides of the mountain.
From Skihytta through the ski slopes to Fjellroa there is a moderate amount of climbing to do. The alternative route marked 134b passes Knettsetra with open seating in summer and through the cabin area in Trysilfjellet South.
History & Background
The trails in this area were opened the summers of 2016 and 2017, by the volunteer group Trysil Bike Arena. For more information,
