After 700+ volunteer hours of trail building, the Box o' Rox
Trail at William Frederick Hayden Park is officially open, as of Sunday, June 4th! COMBA, Wheat Ridge Cyclery, REI, Tony Boone Trail Designs, and the City of Lakewood teamed up to build this bike-optimized connector trail offering flow, berms, jumps, drops, rock gardens, tech-flow, wall rides, and A/B lines.
Head right (west), while riding south on Box o' Rox
from the Summit Loop Trail
, and continue onto this newly-opened extension for some bike optimized fun. This trail will also make for a good climb or can be bypassed via the fire road.
From the northern intersection with Box o' Rox
, expect some fast berms and smaller doubles before continuing onto a slide slope with a number of fun up and downs and A/B lines to choose between. Keep your speed to clear the doubles. The descent finishes with an A/B line. For a more challenging line, look to the the rock garden, berm and a couple rock jumps.
A very special thanks to REI for funding the project. And a big thank you to all our volunteers who came out to COMBA's trail work days to make Box o' Rox
awesome! Share your photos the first time you ride with the #boxorox hashtag!
