Overview

Description

This is probably one of the highlight segments of the Portes du Soleil (Gateway to the Sun) route.

From the lift base above Les Lindarets, take the Chaux Fleurie Lift to the upper station. Turn left onto a wide singletrack and follow it high up along the ridge for the first mile. This mile is relatively flat and you'll enjoy a spectacular view of the valley with Lac de Montriond (Lake) below.

After this first mile, the trail turns sharply to the east (right) beginning a 1.5 mile nearly 230 m (750 ft) descent with multiple bermed switchbacks down to the hamlet of Chalets de Plaine Dranse. From this hamlet, this segment climbs along a forest road for about 1 mile to a small artificial lake. At the far end of the lake the segment continues as a singletrack which descends slightly through a thick forest.

This singletrack ends at a forest road. The forest road descends 280 m (930 ft) over the first mile and then levels out. This forest road ends in the town of Vonnes at a small lake. Turn left on the main D22 road (Route de Vonnes) which takes you to Châtel where you can catch the next lift in the Portes du Soleil circuit to the PdS: Morgins to Champoussin segment.
