“The Border Trail is a multi-use trail that follows the perimeter of the park.”
— Jim Kerchner
Several areas have kiosks with noteworthy information and there is a hill top lookout. Also there are bison and elk in the preserve.
Overall, the Border Trail is an uneventful wide trail that follows the perimeter of the park. There are several steep inclines and declines throughout that require a person to hike-a-bike. In the North Range, behind the North Range parking lot, is a section of Border Trail that connects to the MTB trails and when traveled in a counterclockwise direction is a fun downhill and a hike-a-bike incline at Hunsicker Valley Trail
. If you continue on the Border Trail to the North Range Utility road, the trail is fast and flowy.
Many trail runners and an occasional equestrian can be found on this trail.
