This featured ride tours all three of the new trails at Cub Creek Park. It crosses several nice bridges including one very memorable one on the Suspension Bridge Connector
Trail. The trails are mostly smooth and have little elevation change. Most of the turns are bermed, a trademark of the nearby Overmountain Victory Trail
and Warrior Creek
trails at Kerr Scott.
Family Friendly: Beginner singletrack.
Beginning at the parking area on S. Bridge Street, follow the walking path north and cross the bridge. This bridge will be crossed three times on this ride. Take a left at the ball field and then a left back across the creek on the connector trail directly across from the community garden.
At the intersection with the Beginner Loop
, stay left and follow the flat section along the creek. When arriving at the Suspension Bridge Connector
, stay RIGHT, continuing on the loop, and ride the whole loop back to this spot (2.7 miles). When you return, take a left over the bridge and do a full clockwise loop of the Courthouse Loop
This short 0.6-mi. trail is still beginner trail, but it does go through some rocker sections with a few tighter turns. After completing the loop and repeating the lower section, take the short connector trail back to the walking path near the parking lot where you began the ride. Cross the bridge, but this time, cross S. Bridge Street and cross the other bridge over the creek to access the Intermediate Loop
The Intermediate Loop
is 1.8 miles, and is "tight & twisty" compared to the other trails here, with bigger berms and many more turns. Comparable trail: Zack's Fork Mountain Bike Trail
in Lenoir, NC.
