Description

This trail starts at the summit of Highway 55 between Avimor and Horseshoe Bend. For those of you that like long loops to ride on the weekends, try using this trail to connect Pearl Road and Willow Creek trails. This trail mostly follows the ridge but does take advantage of a few singletrack traverses on the way up to Sheep Rock.

First off, this trail is on land that is not BLM. It's private land and not immediately clear if I was allowed to be on the trail. Second, from a technical standpoint, this trail is pretty good. It's a two track with some single track traverses where someone is trying to make the inclines a little less me menacing. Here's the biggie, if you're going to start at the summit and take the trail south, you'll encounter 6 to 8 really treacherous climbs that aren't Mt Bike friendly. They're so steep you won't be able to stay on the bike at a reasonable gear to keep your front wheel on the ground. Even though the trail is not difficult, it's most definitely not a family trail and I'd argue that it's a questionable MTB trail if you'r looking for fun. On a positive note, when you get to sheep rock, things start to get pretty fun. No more steep inclines and nice, well maintained single/two track that connect to the rest of Avimor trail system.
