“An initial uphill climb leads to broad views of the valley followed by more climbs and descents.”
— Alan Cardenas
This trail is shown on the Eagle Hardscrabble Trail maps found at several trailheads. The connector road starts at the junction of Pipeline a.k.a. Third Gulch
and starts with a very strenuous climb, which in places requires superhuman effort to negotiate the rocky doubletrack. Sometimes pushing your bike may be the only option.
At the first hilltop, you can enjoy views of the 7 Hermits Wilderness Area and sweeping vistas of the Eagle Valley - from the Flattops in the west to Castle Peak and down to the Red Cliffs near Wolcott in the east.
The first descent is followed by several ups and downs including another section where pushing your bike is likely an option. Eventually, the ups and downs grow milder and you descend to an unmarked junction where Abrams Gulch
meets the road.
