Description

The East Loop is a wide gravel trail that connects Backbone to the BMX Skills Area and the scenic bluffs over the quarry lake. The trail also passes near the remains of old farmsteads, with stone foundations and rock fences.

The South Loop singletrack crosses the East Loop once, and passes near it another time. The trail also passes near a shelter house overlooking the lake.

The trail is about 11 feet wide, and is surfaced with fine limestone screenings. The surface is smooth and fast, and handles rain well. Even when the singletrack is muddy, the gravel trails can still be ridden. It's a fine trail for families, walkers, those with limited mobility, and bicyclists lacking mountain bikes suitable for the singletrack trails.
