Description

A Lake Chabot loop will always include a significant section of this trail.

From the golf course, it's a steady but not too steep climb up a ridge covered with oak and chaparral. As you gain elevation you'll catch views of Lake Chabot to the south-west until the junction with Towhee Trail and the Marciel Road parking area.

Crossing the road, the trail flattens out a bit with one last climb then starts a fun winding descent through eucalyptus groves to Grass Valley Creek and an old stone bridge. Cross the bridge and hang a quick right as the trail follows the west side of the creek and terminates at Horseshoe Trail and Bort Meadow Staging Area.
