Description

The Outer Loop North is a good way to start your tour of the Fun Loops at the Elm Ridge Wild Forest. It features a gentle climb and winds through meadows and widely spaced trees not too far from the highway.

To reach the Fun Loops, turn left at the information sign at the base of the Escarpment Trail. At the next intersection, you turn left again and you'll be on Outer Loop North. You can climb this trail for a mile until the three-way intersection with Inside Line and Outer Loop South. Two short connector trails allow you to hop over to Inside Line.

I recommend riding this trail as part of a large loop that connects to Outer Loop South and climbs to Trail #6, to access the upper Elm Ridge trail system.
