The management plan for Red Mountain Open Space requires closures to the public December 1 to March 1 because of winter weather changes and the wildlife requirements.

Description

Part of Red Mountain Open Space, the Salt Lick Trail is a good alternative to wallowing in the sandy wash of the Ruby Wash Trail.

Access the trail on the north end from the Cheyenne Rim Trail and follow it northwest through a short section of doubletrack before you start on the remainder of the trail which winds its way south through some nice singletrack down to the Big Hole Wash Trail.

The trail offers good scenery, big views, and additional miles for your ride!

Prefer this trail to Ruby Wash for completing the loop with Cheyenne Rim trail. This trail has some fun, flowing sections!
