Description

The Black Trail is the newest addition at Ontario County Park, built by a collaboration of GROC and Ontario County. It occupies a lower bench on the east side of the park and adds approximately four miles and 600 feet of elevation change to the network.

The Black Trail has a few options for looping, the most interesting of which is a figure-8, riding the north half clockwise and the southern loop counter-clockwise. Doing so earns you a full mile and 370 vertical feet of joyful descending, a rarity in the Genesee Valley region. (Start the descent from the top of the Brown Trail and you're really cooking!) The climb out has some steep moments but is well-built and manageable for most riders.
