Description

This trail allows you to access the Continental Divide Trail: Walnut Creek Road from either the Gomez Peak or the Little Walnut Trailheads. This trail begins at the intersection of the Wagon Wheel Loop and the Mountain Loop Trail. A common way to access this trail is by starting out at the Little Walnut Trailhead and following the Picnic Loop / Wagon Wheel Loop until you reach the intersection. Accessing this trail will result in a good climb but the trail itself is a nice descent to the Continental Divide Trail: Walnut Creek Road.

There are a few hardpacked mounds for jumping if you are so inclined, but watch out for a few rocky sections that can make the descent potentially hazardous if you are not used to dealing with intermediate technical descents.
