Look for the switchback to the left shortly after leaving the Clay Run singletrack for the Clay Run doubletrack. This is a long but obstacle free climb taking you to the Powerline right-of-way. Keep an eye out for a small log laying across the trail and the singletrack to your left which is a pleasant twisty section through the woods. If you miss it you'll stay under the Powerline and reach the intersection with the trail you missed.

After this intersection comes a short descent and short, very steep climb with a few hundred more yards under the Powerline. The trail leaves the Powerline to the left and intersects a gravel road. Stay left and intersect with Clay Run Trail.
