A great cardio workout but not very interesting.

Description [Suggest Changes]

This trail is a hiking trail that mountain bikes are allowed on. It's hardly maintained (if maintained at all) and proves a great cardio workout. This is probably one of the best places to train your XC skills in the area.

The trail features rocky uphills and downhills but isn't so rocky that it's un-rideable. Most of the trail is uphill, but there are some decently long downhill sections. Like most old school hiking trails on the East Coast, this hardly has any switchbacks.

If you enter through the rec. area, you need to pay to get in. I recommend starting from inside the rec area if it's your first time.

Close to where I grew up so, while not a great trail, it has sentimental value for me. As the description says, it isn't really a biking trail and some of the uphill sections are not rideable. The downhill sections are all manageable for a good rider, although there is one section that is pretty eroded with loose rock so it's kind of dicey. Good summer ride through East Coast deciduous forest. Best parts of the ride are the flat parts. Oct 14, 2015

Round Valley is one of the top areas to ride in NJ. There is a 14 mile loop that includes ridge riding, fast decents, techy climbs, and some fire roads. These trails are the same level of difficulty as Ringwood or Alamuchy. May 11, 2016
