A great summer ride that gets shade from the mountain an hour or so before sunset.

Description

This trail Is an offshoot from the McCullough Hills trail. The trailheads are well-marked and the 601 is a well-maintained and twisty desert trail through a lava rock boulder field. It is short but when combined with other trails in the area it gives you plenty of options for longer distances.

The north end of this trail beyond McCullough Hills Trail is a sandy wash and not a particularly enjoyable section to ride.

Wow, this section shown on the map is a combination of so many different trails it is hard to know where to begin. Starting from the North the "P" correctly shows the west end of Mission parking area which is a great place to start your day and does have bathrooms. The 1st mile south from the parking lot has some long very sandy sections that were not designed for mt bike riders. Mar 30, 2017
When the trail intersects the 603 trail you can head down the 603 to the McCullough Hills main trail, or continue to the right on the 601 trail. This loop can start and end at the McCullough Hills trail and is know on Strava and to the locals as "Pop Tart". Mar 30, 2017
