“A grand ride in either direction, it has great views overlooking Lake Tahoe, Fallen Leaf Lake, and Gardner Mountain.”
— Grant Lewis
Open all year. High snow years you must wait until spring melt to ride on south facing aspect.
Tahoe Mountain Trail makes for a nice climb or descent from either side, though most riders climb up starting from Tahoe Mtn. Road and descend the backside to Forest Road 12N19
. This trail can be used to access the top of Valley View Trail
which is another excellent descent option with several fun features. Watch out for several sandy sections. Access this trail from a parking pullout area on Tahoe Mountain Rd. across from Forest Mountain Drive or park on Devron Way and take the Devron Connector
. This trail is mostly non-technical with only one or two tight rock sections to get through.
North of the intersection with Tahoe-Valley View Connector
the trail provides a fast descent down the north side of Tahoe Mountain. Watch out for any overgrown Whitethorn lining the lower half of the trail that can scratch your arms and legs if you're not paying attention. The lake views from this one are great!
