Description

This trail connects Strouds Run State Park's trail system with trails that connect to Sells Park in the City of Athens. Trace Trail starts directly across Strouds Run Road from Thunderbunny Trail, and connects to the Athens Trail on top of the ridge.

At first the trail climbs on a gentle grade, which becomes increasingly steeper. Trace Trail provides access to the Chestnut Grove Campsite, a primitive campsite maintained by the Athens Conservancy, via the Tunnel Rock Trail.

Close to the top of the climb, there is a sheer dropoff on the left side of the trail. Especially when riding this trail in the downhill direction, take care through this section not to carry too much speed (heading downhill, the dropoff is on your right).

This trail does not handle wet conditions well. Expect to walk sections after periods of rain, and avoid during muddy conditions.
