Overview

The Canal Loop Trail is the premier mountain biking trail at Land Between The Lakes. Canal Loop Trail is an 11-mile singletrack loop trail with 4 connectors that consist of another 3 miles of trail. It offers a variety of loops ranging from a little over 1-mile to the full 11-mile outer loop. Canal Loop Trail can be accessed from the North Welcome Station and Kentucky Lake Scenic Drive. Canal Loop Trail receives a very high amount of use on weekends by mountain bikers and hikers, and offers many scenic overlooks of Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, and the Canal.

Description

From the visitor's center, head across the road to begin the trail. The first 4-5 miles are fast and flowy intermediate terrain mostly along the lakeshore. The difficulty increases slightly after you pass under the canal bridge. There are a few more obstacles and a few more difficult climbs on the western half of the trail. The highlight of the ride is the downhill section beginning at the radio tower.

Fantastic loop all-around! One section of trail required a detour that was relatively easy to navigate. Beautiful area and fun riding! Hard to beat! 10.9mi — 1h 40m

Very fun flowing trail system with some good climbs mixed in, also very shaded and cool next to the lake even in the heat of July. 22.6mi
