A scenic ride along the Rio Grande Gorge, and there are Big Horn Sheep!

Family Friendly Easy terrain, great views.

Description

This is a mostly flat trail with a few rock gardens and small hills. Occasional sand and loose rock, great for a Cross Bike which I took, or of course a MTB or fatty.

There is about 1.5 miles of singletrack at the end - follow the brown markers. There is ample parking at the rest area which has working water fountains and bathrooms. At the end of this trail there are two more trails, Petaca Point (4 miles, easy/moderate) and La Vista Verde (~1.5 miles, easy). I did not ride them this time....but they look fun!

Along the West Rim Trail there's lots of side trails that lead to awesome views of the Rio Grande Gorge and Taos Range, and a few of the sparse trees to cool down in the shade on a hot day
