Head to Brundage Mountain Resort just outside of McCall, Idaho for some fun runs down Brundage Mountain. The views from the top and along Elk Trail of the surrounding valley, Payette Lake and nearby mountains are the cherry on top of this cheesecake ride. There are more challenging trails at Brundage, but this one has a nice combination of downhill speed, hairpins and some flow towards the bottom.

The area provides maps and the trail is well marked, so it is impossible to head off in the wrong direction. From the top you'll roll through undulating terrain with just enough loose stone to keep it interesting. Before you have time to get too fast you'll hit the shade of the trees with a few small jumps and a couple of minor creek crossings along the way. I can usually get in about seven runs in an afternoon with time in between for enjoying a sandwich with the view.

Bring plenty of sunscreen for the lift up and watch for deer and elk on the trail in the early morning. They rent equipment in the shop and sell snacks and simple grub at the snack bar and if you are up for it, try out one of the gonzo trails. Have fun!
