Description

Loop 1 is one of the most beginner-friendly trails in the triangle area. It is a fantastic trail to introduce beginners and kids to the sport of mountain biking. If riding with young kids (or tired, grumpy kids), consider loop 2 as a shorter option.

Lake Crabtree County Park singletrack is by far the most popular place for beginner riders in the Triangle. Its central location is also great for relieving weekday stress if you work in RTP. The wooded trails connect to Umstead State Park's gravel roads and Cary's Black Creek Greenway.

This trail is super fast and during annual XC races here, winners are averaging nearly 15mph. That said, it is super popular for beginners, and gets more challenging the faster you go.

Navigating the trails is helped by frequent maps posted near intersections.
