Description

Sunset can be ridden in either direction. Both directions offer more then enough tech to make the 1 mile feel longer than it is. There is some exposure and definite hike-a-bike sections. This one is usually ridden as a connector trail to make loops with the other trails in the area. The trail is mainly used for hiking and is well maintained.

There are parking lots on either end. One is marked as "Sunset Trail Parking" off of Mt. Lemmon highway around mile marker 24. The other end starts at Marshal Gulch parking lot. To access this parking lot go through Summer Haven to the dead end of Mt Lemmon highway, which becomes a parking lot. Both ends are marked with signs.

I would say this is not really a mtb trail. It's too step, too crazy technical for most mortals to ride much of it except the last section. However, there is an incredible creek with frigid, gorgeous wading pools. May 2, 2018
