Description

Street parking is available about 3/4 mile from the trailhead on Finley Road.

The trail starts as a dirt road through forest that parallels Tassajara Creek. It then opens up into beautiful grass covered hills near the entrance to Oyster Point Trail.

After this point it is a fire road with no shade. The road climbs steadily by Riggs Canyon Road until it reaches Highland Ridge and then it descends back to Morgan Territory Road. Views of Riggs Canyon and the eastern side of Mt Diablo State Park abound.

When I rode it 2015/2016, it was lock-gated off where it passes close to private property before it reaches Morg Terr Road. Looking at maps, it seems like an illegal and unjust obstruction of the road. The detour is a pain in the butt with sand and nearly impossible steep slipperly slopes. Jul 21, 2016

Good workout, but just a fire trail/road. More intermediate than beginner given the steeper sections. Pretty dry, rutted and cracked in spots. Still-- there are worse ways to spend an hour plus. Note on parking--- if coming from Finley Road entrance, you'll have to park on the side of the road about 1/2 mile or so from the dead end. Be prepared to turn around on a bit of a narrow road. Entire trail/road was open when I rode it. Aug 12, 2016
