The trail is paved for the first quarter mile before turning to singletrack. While there are a few rock gardens the trail isn't that hard, but the trail is relatively narrow and the exposure on the lake side can give beginners the willies.
The trails rolls up and down and around the north shore of the lake with great views of Como Peaks. Great picnic spots along the way and a great view of the Rock Creek Falls just a little way up the Rock Creek Trail.
Other than the exposure, this is a great ride to introduce people to singletrack.
The north side is more heavily used than
Lake Como South and I would encourage cyclists to not ride the trail during peak times during the summer. The trail is narrow and there is no point in irritating families with their dogs and kids.
Usually combined with
Lake Como South for a complete loop of the lake. Can be combined with
Jenny Ridge or
Shannon Ridge for longer rides.
