Don't ride when it's wet!

An eight-mile trail that loops around Erwin Park. The singletrack travels through a pretty even mix of woods and open fields and the surface is comprised of a firm dirt with a loose powdery top. While under the trees there are some rocks and roots to negotiate. However, the trail smoothes out nicely when rolling across the meadows. All the small ups and downs have a way of sneaking up on you, so don't be surprised if you get some leg burn during your ride.

There are a few man-made improvements such as bridges and rocks implemented to improve traction on descents and through the mud. About three-quarters of the way through the trail, there is a moderately fast open descent with a one to two-foot drop. It's not intimidating if you keep rolling and commit and the landing is clear and easy.

Coming from the Austin area, this trail was a fun flowy and fast experience. It resembles easier parts of Walnut Creek or closely mimics Picnic at Brushy Creek if you want to compare it. I'd definitely ride it again, and it'd be fun to race there! Oct 11, 2017
There's been some more re-routing work, bypassing some over worn sections, as well as improving a couple of (as I remember them) more bland straight line climbs. All good, and better! Great work by those that maintain the trail (DORBA, I assume). Still one of my North Texas favorites for a faster less technical ride with enough roots, twists, and dips to keep it interesting.
