One of the best downhill rides in the state.

Taber West

This trail begins at the pull aside just before the Santa Fe Ski Area parking lot. You begin descending a fairly fast and technical section before crossing a forest road. After the road crossing, the trail becomes less technical and faster. You'll come to several trail junctions on the way down, just stay to the right at all junctions.

Lower down, the trail crosses back and forth over Tesuque Creek several times before dumping out onto a private dirt road. The trail continues in and out of the road before ending on the pavement.

Note: After the trail ends, you can continue down until an intersection with Bishops Lodge Road, where you'll turn right. in about a mile and a half you'll come to Tesuque Village Market. This is where we park to end the ride and grab a bit to eat. This trail is usually done as a shuttle from top to bottom, but can be ridden both ways.

Snowy, Icy - Snowy above Norski with spots of snow all the way down to the Pacheco Canyon Road. Watch for ice in north facing corners.

What a great trail and SOOO easy to shuttle. One of the most consistently downhill trails I've ever seen... not much pedaling to speak of if you shuttle. May 30, 2017
Great trail to climb and descend. Did it on a weekday though, wouldn't want to be going up on the weekend when lots of people are shuttling it. Riding up is an endurance challenge as the trail pretty consistently climbs for 9 miles. It's all rideable up to the last 1/2 mile, which is very steep. Sep 27, 2017
