Features Views

Family Friendly This is a relatively wide flat dirt road. But watch out for cars if the road is open to motor vehicles.

Need to Know

There are restrooms near the Fielding Garr Ranch parking lot. During the warmer months they'll have the restrooms with running water open (assuming they aren't closed for some other reason). Fielding Garr Ranch has picnic tables and trees to get some shade. Once you are on the dirt road there are no restrooms and no water. There is very little shade once you are out on the road. If you are attempting to ride to the south tip from the north tip there are a series of bathrooms along the paved road, but these do not have running water until you reach the ranch.

Description

Either drive or ride to the Fielding Garr Ranch on Antelope Island. The main road pavement stops and the dirt road begins. This dirt road will take you all the way to the southern tip of the island. During the muddy/snowy times of year the dirt road is closed to motor vehicles so you can enjoy the ride without worrying about cars or trucks.

At approximately 4.5 miles you'll come to a fork in the road - go up the small hill and stay to the right to pass through the gate. From this point on the road becomes more of a doubletrack trail, but is still quite easy to navigate - even for gravel bikes.

At the dead end take in the unique views of the Salt Lake valley and the copper mine smokestack off in the distance. There are no other established trails in the area so this is the end of the line.
