Overview

This route goes left when the climb up Floyd Hill forks, onto the black diamond trail. Although going right at the fork is marked blue/intermediate, I think that following this route to the left is the easier climb.

It's a little longer mileage going this way, but requires fewer power moves and includes a nice downhill break in the middle of the climb.

Description

From the parking lot, start climbing up to the west. Stay on the trail that allows bikes, avoiding the hiker-only trail as well as the maintenance access roads. Near the halfway point of the climb, you'll reach a fork in the trail. Take the left fork, marked with a black diamond, downhill.

This section of trail winds you around the backside of the hill, and includes a couple short downhill bits. You'll eventually reach another intersection, follow the sign "to the top of Floyd Hill," to the right.

From the top of the hill, follow the sign to the left, down The Sluice trail, back to the parking lot.
