Family Friendly Easy riding with many scenic riverside parks along the way.

Overview

This loop can be ridden in either direction and there are multiple bridge connectors that can be crossed along the way. There are many parks and parking areas along the way, making it easy to start your ride from any spot along the trail.

Description

This can be ridden however you would like, but the current loop is one suggested way that many will ride when coming from the northeast side of Eugene.

Start at Delta Highway River Trail Access point, then ride southwest on the East Bank Path, continuing onto the South Bank Path. You'll then cross the Knickerbocker Bridge Connector to ride north on the South Bank Path, continuing on the West Bank Path. You'll then cross the Owosso Bridge Connector to head back towards the East Bank Path trailhead.

There are many nice parks to check out along the way, including Skinner Butte, Alton Baker, and Owen Rose Garden.

History & Background

This is also known in the area as the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path System. The trail follows the Willamette River from northeast Eugene to downtown Springfield. The path is named after the late female mayor of Eugene that was a strong advocate for developing bicycle and pedestrian routes in the area. The path system connects many neighborhoods, city parks, and other outdoor riverside areas.
