Need to Know

This trail is open to motorcyclists, so be on the lookout for motorized travel.

Description

While land easements are continuning to be developed to allow the extension of CDT: Burro Norte (Doug's Trail) to LS Mesa where it can meet the Proposed CDT: Doug's Gate to LS Mesa section, this trail is used to allow you to loop back into Saddle Rock Canyon. It is a steep, rough section of trail that offers some challenging but fun riding. Heading north on CDT: Burro Norte (Doug's Trail) will take you to an intersection. The CDT will veer off to the left while the Gnarly Trail will go right and actually appear better traveled than the CDT.

Turn right and follow the trail (mostly) down until it ends at Saddle Rock Road. There are a couple of short but steep climbing sections near the middle of the trail and the last mile can be a bit washed out with sand and loose babyheads, so be cautious.
