What makes South Umpqua Trail special? This route hugs the South Umpqua River as it winds and flows right through the heart of the city. Roseburg Visitors Center, Pine Ally, Deer Creek Greenway, Historic Mill-Pine District, and several unique city park properties are along this path. Great recreational amenities all connecting through this public, fantastic multi-use path.

South Umpqua Trail is between Stewart Park and the historic end of Mill Street. The Roseburg section of South Umpqua River is filled with wildlife and waterfowl including species of native endangered fish such as salmon and lampray. Spot blue herons and egrets from the trail and sometimes a bald eagle and osprey, too.

Park at Stewart Park. Look for the multi-use path and continue in the southeast direction riding along the eastern park entrance road and the unique South Umpqua River.

The multi-use path leaves Stewart Park and enters the Riverfront Disc Golf Course and continues to Gaddis Park. The park has several softball fields and river access for swimming, fishing, and other water activities. As you travel through Gaddis Park, you'll find yourself between the beautiful South Umpqua River and the Central Oregon Pacific Railroad.

Continuing in the south direction, you'll go through an area know as Deer Creek Park. Cross over a small pedestrian footbridge at Deer Creek, a tributary into the South Umpqua River. Deer Creek Park, along Pine Street; a historic neighborhood that was established in the late 1800's. This section connects to the Roseburg Visitors Center, a great place to pick up local information and to sit and relax with a bag lunch.

This trail continues south under the Oak and Washington Street Bridges and into another historic residential neighborhood, Flint Street. From Flint Street, turn right onto Mosher Avenue and turn left onto Fullerton Street and a right onto Hoover Street and then a right onto Arizona Street.

South on Arizona Street further into Templin Park and Happy Tails Dog Park. The South Umpqua Trail travels south alongside Happy Tails Dog Park and into Micelli Park. At Micelli Park, take a right onto the Micelli Park section, which is the only singletrack, unpaved trail section through the last park of the South Umpqua Trail to the end at Mill Street.
