This is the highlight segment of the Moonlight Sonata loop around Ben Lemond Peak. It's one of those trails that is both fun and challenging to ride, which also features awesome views.

You'll wind your way high above Moonlight Creek and the Shotover River on a narrow ribbon of singletrack carved into the side of Ben Lemond Peak. Meanwhile Ben Lemond Peak towers above you and many other 3,000 - 5,000' peaks bristle in the distance. The cross slope is impressive at times and there are a few places with some exposure where a fall could have greater consequences (but these have the best views).

The trail runs approximately from the abandoned gold mining town (not much left to see) of Sefferstown, which is a short way down Ben Lemond Station Road to the modern town of Arthurs Point.

To add to the degree of difficulty, part of the trail is on the privately owned Ben Lemond Station Farm. You can expect to find domestic animals (cattle and/or sheep) at times directly in the trail. Don't spook the animals, as this could result in you being sent tumbling down the mountain. Do close any gates that you open behind you.
