This is a one-way downhill only biking trail.

Description

The new Jabberwocky opened in 2017 and starts at Caterpillar Crossing and flows right out of the Lizard trail.

This is a downhill-only, machine-built trail with some tight, steeply-bermed turns early on. This might scare off the beginner-intermediate crowd, but much of the rest of the trail is very rideable by most everyone (save for a couple of tight and steep wider turns in the middle).

The biggest challenge is when the trail gets dry and the decomposed granite turns to ball-bearings... every summer. Jabberwocky features several table-top jumps, some doubles and short rock sections. The trail is wide and forgiving for the most part and can be very fast. A brief flat section gives you a reprieve unless you're working on your Strava times, in which case you'll probably pedal.

Whether you ride up to earn your turns or take the shuttle up to Mt Ashland, this can be part of a very long descent that will leave you pleasantly exhausted.

This trail was designed in part by professional mountain bikers, working under the parameters of the Forest Service and the City of Ashland, and paid for by Ashland Woodlands and Trails Association (AWTA) with significant help from Rogue Valley Mountain Bike Association (RVMBA) and a grant from REI.
