Need to Know

There are two steep technical rock sections that break up an otherwise smooth flowing ride. Be careful as there are numerous sharp turns.

Description

This is a fast and flowing downhill ride that can either be accessed as an out-an-back, or the preferred option is to start up the steep climbing Cave Overlook Loop trail system, heading west/southwest at junctions, until you intersect the Twisted Pines Trail.

This is a great clockwise loop, and you can take the Steptoe Creek Trail back to the lake, or just ride the road. This loop keeps the climbing focused and steep on switchbacks and the downhill long and fun.

There are numerous fun airs on the side of the trail and several great rollers. Most of the ride is smooth and fast, but there are a few rocky sections. Expect beautiful views of both the valley and nearby cliff bands along the whole ride!

This trail combines with the Cave Lake Overlook trail for a total of 6 miles. High desert riding at its best. The trail is a climb with switchbacks. 3.4mi — 2h 00m
