Description

Edison-Lava is most often done as an out-and-back. The route can also be connected with the Metolius-Windigo for some long rides around Mt Bachelor.

Traveling through a volcanic landscape scattered with pine and hemlock, the trail is moderately technical with some steep grades and loose rocks. The majority of the climbing is near the midpoint of the trail. It's about 1,500' of uphill rewarded with the same elevation loss in fast descending.

There's a few optional lines that shouldn't be missed. Look for the log ride feature near the approach to Little Lava Lake.

E-bikes are allow from Edison to the halfway point at JCT 146.

We really hated this trail a lot. We did it from the lake to the Edison snow basin parking lot. Maybe that's why we hated it. Downhills were meh

This is a black, not a blue. Expect an unmaintained chunderfest with steep slopes and quite a few drops that lead into more chunder. 10.1mi
