Snow in the winter makes bike travel impossible.

Description

Go down Tonto Creek Rd toward fish hatchery, cross small bridge and park on the right in the Horton Parking area. Hop on your bike, and head back across the bridge and up a dirt road into the campground, where you'll see the trailhead located at the top of the hill.

Climb all the way to the Highline Trail #31 (NRT). Your way will be consistently uphill, and some the trail is technical, but riders with intermediate skills won't have any problems. When you hit the Highline Trail #31 (NRT), go left for about 100 yards and you'll see the creek. A recommendation is to walk and follow the creek up another 100 yards and you'll see the spring where the creek comes out of the side of the mountain. It is beautiful at the top with some huge trees. After the uphill, this is a welcome reward!

Once you've had your fill of mountain views, turn around and follow the same trail out. The way down is a lot of fun, and the mellow route up makes for a pretty technical descent. Watch out for and be respectful to hikers or no one will be able to use this trail moving foward. Thank you
