On a sunny dry day, this loop is at its best, with beautiful ferns and trees lining the trail. This loop is all dirt with roots and rocks protruding in many sections, making for a very technical yet fun ride close to Kona town.

The parking area for this loop is on Hao Street. Head north on Old Hao Road, a flowy/fast singletrack/fireroad for 1.8 miles; then turn right to ascend on Pig Skull Trail. Pig Skull Trail is a tough climb, and you might need to hike a bike a few sections. Look out for Guava (yellow golfball to tennis ball sized fruit) along this trail for a good sugar buzz.

Once you hit the upper fence line you'll be on a fireroad, which is Flat Line Trail. Flat Line Trail is fast and flowy with loose rock and some lilikoi fruit along the way. About three miles into the ride there will be an obvious fork in the road; the fireroad that heads downhill meets up with Old Hao Road and makes for a good bail out option.

To follow the loop, continue straight on the singletrack which will lead up to Jurassic Park Trail. Jurassic Park Trail is a tight technical descent to a dead end street where you can park you car. Just before Jurassic Park Trail terminates at the street, there is a trail peeling off to the right before the trail poster board. This is Tree Stumps Trail. Take this is a very difficult technical descent through rocky and rooty jungle to meet up along Old Hao Road; then take a left to take you back to your car.

You can ride this loop any way you want but the only places you can park are at Hao St and Makahi St. dead end (Jurassic Park trailhead).
