Overview

This ride uses the motorized trail system in the Danskins and as much singletrack as possible. There are some sections of ATV trails you'll ride on, but this loop tries to minimize them. In the early spring there are lots of water crossing that will get you wet, but that is part of the fun!

The ride starts near the Case Creek Trailhead, but it would be just as easy to start from Bender Creek or Willow Creek Trailheads depending on how much dirt road driving you care to do.

There is a waterproof map for the area named "Danskins OHV" that can be bought at most motorcycle shops or area forest service offices.

Need to Know

There will be motorized users on these trails so it's best to go in the morning on weekends since that's the busiest time for the motorized crowd.

This area burned in 2013.

Description

This descriptions starts from the Case Creek Trailhead, but as mentioned you can start at the other two trailheads depending on where you live.

From Case Creek Trailhead you'll start on dirt road 167E and then turn off for a plateau onto trail 320. You'll stay on 320 for just a short amount of time until you'll turn onto Upper Willow Creek Trail (#400) which will take you into Willow Creek. You'll descend Willow Creek for a long time until you come to the junction with trail #421. You'll then climb #421 to Danskins ATV (#321) and then Willow Poptop (#410) before descending #414 to get back onto Lower Willow Creek Trail (#400).

If you're cold from all the water crossings you can stay on Willow Poptop (#410) since it exactly parallels #400. Once back on Willow Creek you'll continue the descent down the creek. Stay on trail 400 and you'll eventually reach Blacks Creek Road and the Willow Creek Trailhead.

Now climb Blacks Creek Road to the Bender Creek Trailhead and then turn onto Flat Creek (#300). You'll go over a ridge and drop into Bender Creek (#510). Now you'll climb Bender Creek to the ridge. Settle in for a long climb. The last part is going to be steep and challenging. Off of #510 you'll pass Danskins ATV (#502) and then take your next right which climbs more gently to the ridge. The last part of #510 is very steep so it is best avoided.

Finish the climb then turn left onto the road at the ridge. Now you'll settle in for a ridge ride on an ATV trail. The road will become Danskins Ridge Trail (#500) and take you to Corral Creek. You'll turn onto the ridge at trail #520 and then quickly onto trail Corral Creek (#530). This is a great singletrack descent.

Near the bottom of the drainage you'll turn onto Danskins ATV (#531) for a short while before taking a right onto trail Flat Creek (#300). Trail 300 is a mellow ATV trail that will take you to Beaver Creek. After a couple miles on Trail 300 you'll arrive at the Beaver Creek (#316) trail. Beaver Creek will take you all the way back to the parking lot.

This is a big and challenging ride which can be done in either direction, but this is my preferred route!

Recent massive tree near the trail (does not impede access). Pretty cool little spot right after the initial steep descent.
